Betting Prediction:
Both the New York Guardians and the DC Defenders started with wins in week 1. New York had a very solid win, scoring three touchdowns and alllowing none. There are a few concerns because Matt McGloin is not the most impressive quarterback you can see on any field and the running game is missing. The Guardians did not manage to establish a run game at all in week 1. RB Darius Victor finished with just 32 yards on the ground while McGloin had the least passing yards out of all the QBs in the league.
The DC Defenders looked very strong and they are a threat to every team. Cardale Jones looked like the best QB in the XFL and he completed 62% of his throws for 235 yards with 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The defense did not look as impressive as the offense and gave up 3 touchdowns. They have playmakers on defense and I believe that they will be fine at the end of the day because the these are just chemistry issues. Jones will have a much tougher opponent in week 2 as he will face one of the most impressive defenses so far.
If you are not a great believer in Matt McGloin, I do not know how you won’t side with Cardale Jones and the Defenders. They look like a team that will compete for the Championship at the end of the season and I cannot bet against them yet.
