Betting Prediction:
One of this week’s most interesting games will be between the DC Defenders and the LA Wildcats. The Defenders have only played in the state of DC so far this season and this will be their first game on the road. The offense led by Cardale Jones looked really solid and his numbers are also very good. He is completing 62% of his throws for 511 passing yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. The running game has not been their strength with Jhurell Pressley rushing for just 63 yards on 23 carries for 0 touchdowns. The defense is decent, even though there is still a lot that could be improved there.
Last week, the Wildcats allowed Landry Jones to throw for over 300 yards against them. This week, they will face another top QB talent and I believe the inevitable will happen again. Even though the secondary picked off Jones twice last week, it still did not look that solid. QB Josh Johnson participated in his first XFL game and he finished with 30 yards on 4 out of 6 completed passes. He was thrown into the mix at the end of the game and he could not prevent the Renegades from getting the victory. Elijah Hood had good first two weeks with 74 rushing yards on 22 carries. In addition to that, the league’s leading wide receiver is playing for LA. This is Nelson Spruce who has 17 receptions for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The line is a bit big and having in mind that the game will be in LA and Johnson showed us glimpses of his special skills last week, I will side with the points for the underdog. He connected on a few occasions with Nelson Spruce and if he continues with the clock management, they will be fine.
