The Astros are considered to be the favorites to once again go to the World Series and eventually win them again. The Indians, on the other side, one of the smallest organizations in the entire major baseball, is going to the playoffs for the third consecutive time. We hear a lot about their impressive record these days but they are in the same division with 3 teams that finished their seasons with at least 98 lost games.
The Astros are looking forward to becoming the first successfully defended champions since the 98-00 New York Yankees. They have one of the best pitching rosters in the entire MLB and they also have a bullpen that was the best in ERA and ranked third in fWAR, plus a lineup led by the reigning AL MVP in Jose Altuve.
Both teams are very good and there is a big chance one of them to get to the World Series eventually. The Tribe — with four starting pitchers who have racked up at least 200 strikeouts and a lineup that is more lethal because of the addition of Josh Donaldson — might even have the fewest holes of any playoff club. Kluber and Verlander are elite pitchers and I expect them to have great games on Friday.
