Stanford will be trying to replace their star Reid Travis who is now playing for Kentucky. They will count on freshmen and sophomores this year but their recruiting classes are not as good as North Carolina’s. Point guard Daejon Davis returns. He averaged 10.7 points and 4.8 assists per game. The forward KZ Okpala averaged over 10 points per game last year and he is expected to be their main scorer this season. Stanford started the season with a win over Seattle and then got another one on the road against UNC Wilmington.
North Carolina opened the regular season with two back-to-back victories on the road. One of them came against Wofford by 11 points and then the Tar Heels destroyed Elon by 49. They did not lose many players and most of them are returning this year. The experience they have will certainly help them towards the end of the regular season and I believe that they will have a successful campaign.
The Tar Heels enter the week ranked top-5 on offense and defense. Stanford doesn’t have any star power and I expect them to struggle scoring while North Carolina should be able to put up even over 100 points.
