Though the loss against Fresno State was predictable, the one against Utah State came a couple of weeks ago with San Diego State being a -6.5-point favorite. The team is great on defense, allowing less than 20 points per game but the trouble comes on offense where they barely score anything and are ranked 142nd in the country, averaging 27 points per game.
UTSA is 12-1 and their only loss came a couple of weeks ago against North Texas. They were strong favorites in that one as well but they just could not cope with North Texas’ rushing game and were even outscored. As a whole, UTSA has a strong offense that is good both on offense and defense. At the same time, however, the team is leaky on defense when it faces a strong offense.
San Diego State will neutralize the rushing game as they are 2nd best in the league in fewest rushing yards allowed. But their pass defense is not great and we all know how great UTSA can be.
