Maine has been very consistent in recent years. The team is coming off a very successful campaign as they won the CAA title and were eliminated in the FCS Semi-finals. Maine finished last year unbeaten at home with a 5-0 record and they will look to extend the streak to 6 straight wins. The team possesses a great rush defense which led the league last year while on offense, QB Chris Ferguson returns for his third season. He threw for 2372 passing yards last season and his favorite target Earnest Edwards who had 14 touchdowns will also play for Maine.

Sacred Heart finished 7-4 last season and 5-1 in NEC play. Running back Jordan Meechum returns to the squad for another year. Meechum ran for 1396 yards and 11 touchdowns last season and this ferocious Maine’s defense will be put to a test early in the season.

Both teams will meet for the first time in both schools’ histories. The only area that Sacred Heart is better than Maine is the rushing attack. However, Maine will be able to neutralize them because of its great rush defense. It is just a terrible matchup for a decent Sacred Heart team.
