In NCAA Football Week 1, we will see Houston Cougars at Oklahoma Sooners.
Betting Prediction:
The Houston Cougars had a decent 2018 campaign, finishing 8-5. They were destroyed by Army, one of the top 25 college teams, by 70-14 in the Bowl game they played. The Cougars went on to fire their head coach and brought West Virginia’s one Dana Holgorsen. QB D’Eriq King was very solid before his injury and the Cougars will expect that he won’t hurt his body again. He threw for 3000 passing yards, 36 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions last year.
The Oklahoma Sooners had a great campaign with Kyler Muray calling the plays. He then went on to be the first overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. The defense was suspect last year and even though the team lost by just 11 points by Alabama, they allowed 45. And it is hard to overcome this number, especially against an NFL-like defense such as the Aggies’ one.
I understand why Oklahoma is such a heavy favorite in this one based on the fact that the team has one of the best offensive talents in all college football. Houston, however, will be more determined than ever to make up for that Army loss and cheer their fans under the new head coach’s guidance. I believe that Houston will be able to hang in the game and cover this big spread due to the fact that Oklahoma won’t be able to make too many defensive stops.
