Betting Prediction:
Notre Dame’s thoughts are on that Georgia game in a few weeks. Everything in between will be just a preparation for it. The Notre Dame’s defense against the run is elite and even though they rarely make tackles for loss, they are able to put pressure both on the running back and the QB. The Louisville offense was dead last in third down conversions last year, so it will be interesting to see if they can handle the Irish pressure in key situations throughout the game.
Louisville will continue to rely on the defense. The offense has nothing to brag about but 11 of their tacklers from last year return. There’s athleticism and speed, but now the production has to show up even more. Louisville will be a whole lot better this season, for sure. The new head coach is offensive-minded and he will certainly improve this part of the game while the defense should take care of itself.
The Notre Dame offense is very explosive and can hurt the opposition in many ways. I expect Louisville to hang in the game for the most part and the Irish to get the win late in the fourth quarter. It won’t be a blowout, though.
