The Oakland Raiders are battling for a playoff spot and they hope that the football gods will be with them. Last time out, they won surprisingly against the Chargers and things went their way, so they can have a shot at the postseason. Jon Gruden’s offense started the season really well but things have not been clicking in the past 5 weeks. Oakland went from 6-4 to 7-8 and this was mainly because DeAndre Washington and the running game struggled. Derek Carr and the passing game was still solid but the Raiders will need the rushing if they are to secure a playoff spot.
The Denver Broncos are 6-9 without any possibility to get into the playoffs but they are showing a good heart. The Broncos won 3 of their last 4 games and only lost to the Kansas City Chiefs during that spell. They managed to beat the Chargers, the Texans and the Lions behind the great play of Drew Lock. He seems much better than what Joe Flacco is today and they will certainly give him further chances. Philipp Lindsay had nice outings in any of those 4 meetings and he rushed for over 100 yards last time out. He is a vital piece of the team now and Courtland Sutton is also establishing himself as a top receiver.
Denver’s defense continues to dominate and it is allowing just a bit over 20 points per game compared to the 27 points the Oakland are giving up. Denver is on the high note and the Raiders do not have what it takes, in order to deserve a chance for this year’s playoffs, really.
