The Carolina Panthers started the season in a way nobody expected. After beating the Jets 19-14 and we must admit the Jets have a solid defense, they went out and beat the Saints 26-7. QB Sam Darnold played his best two games in the NFL, completing 68.5% of his throws for 584 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. The Carolina defense allowed the fewest number of points for the first two games, averaging 10.5 points.
The Houston Texans did not face any opposition in their first game against Jacksonville and won 37-21 with QB Tyrod Taylor finishing with 291 passing yards and 2 TDs. The game against the Cleveland Browns was totally different with Taylor finishing with just 125 yards and a TD and rarely converting on 3rd downs. RB Mark Ingram II also did not have a good game as he ran for 41 yards on 14 carries.
Speaking of 3rd downs, the Panthers are the best team in the league in 3rd down conversion in the past two seasons. They showed real promise in the first two weeks while Houston looks doomed to lose as many as 13 of their next 15 games.
