Betting Prediction:
Northern Illinois is coming off a grind out win over BYU by 7-6 last weekend. The Huskies averaged 2.5 yards per carry on offense which resulted in 89 yards on 36 carries. Marcus Childers threw for 115 yards, completing under 50% of his passes. The Huskies kept the Cougars out of their end zone and they let them get to the red zone on just two occasions. However, BYU settled for field goals and eventually lost the game because of it.
The Akron Zips survived in their own grind out a win last week when they beat Central Michigan by 17-10. Akron had problems keeping the ball in their hands and they fumbled five times. The Zips’ defense could’ve had a shutout but the offense put them in situations near their end zone and they couldn’t keep Central Michigan away from it.
Akron almost lost to a Central Michigan team which was without its quarterback and starting running back for most of the game. The Zips haven’t scored more than 17 points since September and I doubt that this will happen on Thursday. I expect this to be an old-school defensive game that won’t have more than 30 points. Northern Illinois will have some interceptions and win the game.
