Jackson State is currently 2-5 on the year with the abysmal defense the Tigers are playing. They are not able to stop anything and have lost to even historically weaker schools such as Kentucky State. Last time out, the Tigers managed to beat Mississippi Valley, 31-28 in a game where Ponder threw for 194 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. RB Kymani Clarke dominated the ground game with 171 rushing yards on 20 carries and 1 touchdown.
On the other side, Prairie View A&M is 3-4 with a similar terrible defense. They shut down completely UVAL in the previous game, winning 51-0 but UVAL is a 0-6 team that rarely scores over 14. Just like the Tigers, the Panthers also have a very good offense that can punish you in many ways. QB Jalen Morton is an experienced FCS quarterback that is completing around 60-65% of his passes. The real offensive star is RB Dawonya Tucker who is rarely rushing for less than 100 yards.
Both teams are struggling defensively and Jackson State showed last time out that they will be a competitive squad. I believe that the Tigers will face a more difficult time than people think and they will not be able to cover the spread.
