Preview:
Golden State rebounded after their loss to Sacramento with a big win over the Chicago Bulls by 123-92. Klay Thompson scored 28 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three-point range. Kevin Durant also helped in the win with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Stephen Curry was quiet, going for just 13 points, but he usually plays well against the Grizzlies. For example, he scored 40 points the last time these two teams played, although the Warriors lost in overtime. Golden State is ranked number one in the NBA for averaging points per game at 118.3 and the defense is conceding only 105 points which is good for 11th in the league.
The Grizzlies’ defense is improving throughout the season and the offense is started to flow, too. Memphis beat the Phoenix Suns by 110-91 at home on Wednesday, shooting a solid 48% from the field. The Suns went for just 33% shooting from three-point range because Mike Conley and Tony Allen were defending the perimeter very well. Mike Conley is averaging 19 points per game and he had a big game last month against the Warriors when he scored 27 points and he added 12 assists for the crucial win. The Grizzlies are on a roll, winning 7 out of their last 10 games mostly because of their defense which is conceding just 99 points per game which is good for third in the league.

[membership]The Grizzlies are using a style of play that slows down the Warriors’ offense and this way they are capable of putting points on the board while Golden State’s offense is usually getting frustrated by the great Memphis’ defense. I expect Tony Allen and Mike Conley to defend the perimeter well against Steph Curry and Klay Thompson while Marc Gasol will be posting up for most of the time in the paint against the smaller Draymond Green. I think the winner of this game will be decided late in the fourth quarter and I won’t be surprised if it is Memphis once again.
