The Georgia State Panthers are the big underdogs here while their quarterback Dan Ellington is completing 62.5% of his passes. He is a dual-threat quarterback who is not only throwing well this year but he also ran for 107 yards on 28 carries so far. On the defensive side of the ball, Georgia State are allowing 30.5 points per game and 461.5 yards.
The Memphis Tigers lost a heartbreaker to the Navy Midshipmen a week ago, 21-22. Brady White is completing 69.8 percent of his passes for 503 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. The Tigers’ receiving core includes Damonte Coxie and Patrick Taylor Jr. who both combine for 200 receiving yards. Defensively, Memphis are allowing just 18 points per game and 245 yards.
The Panthers’ defensive weaknesses in the first two weeks proved that against a good offensive side, they will have many problems. The Tigers really improved their defense in the summer and I do not expect this to be a fair contest. Although Georgia State are 22-9 against the spread on the road, I still believe that Memphis will want to bounce back from last week with a big performance in front of their own fans.
