Furman is 8-4, following a big win over Point University, 64-7, last time out. Point University almost couldn’t convert on any of the third downs while the Paladins’ controlled the clock mainly with offensive plays on the ground. The only knock against them is that they can’t stop the run when they are playing any elite opponents.
Austin Peay is 9-3 and 1st in OVC. They haven’t lost a game since 6 weeks and they have been very dominant throughout this whole time. In their last outing, they beat Eastern Illinois 35-7 with their dual-threat QB doing all the damage. The good opponents actually manage to put points on the board against them and especially those that can run the football very well.
Both teams have trouble stopping the run but Furman has the better players at their disposal. Austin Peay relies on its QB and I know that he can run very well and he is also a decent thrower but Furman can control the clock like no one else in FCS.
