In the 1st round of Wimbledon, one of the most interesting matches is between the Austrian Dominic Thiem and German Florian Mayer.

Dominic Thiem, 8th World, is the main revelation of the first half of the season. After making a final 1/2 at Roland Garros, the young Austrian had a very good preparation for Wimbledon. In Stuttgart he beat in the final the German Kohlschreiber in three sets, having taken over Roger Federer 1/2. The following week he played the Halle tournament and lost in the 1/2-finals against Mayer.
Florian Mayer is on 80th position in ATP and he is a real turf specialist and demonstrated this during its preparation to Wimbledon. Committed to Stuttgart, it is extracted before qualifying to rise until 1/4-finals, beaten by Federer in 2 sets. He plays very good on Halle tournament and won the final measure of his young compatriot Alexander Zverev 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.

Mayer leads 1-0 victories. The only confrontation between the two men took place this year on the grass of Halle and the German won with 6-3, 6-4. Dominic Thiem will be keen to take revenge against an opponent who beat him there 10 days in Halle.
