Jon Lester is one of the most accomplished pitchers in the MLB and especially when it comes to playing in the postseason. He took his rest in the previous days because the Cubs had the possibility to rest their key starter and he will be looking to make up for the only previous wild card that he played- against Kansas in 2014 where he lost brutally.
Kyle Freeland, on the other side, is making his debut in the playoffs, however, he is on a short rest and with a trip to Chicago. He doesn’t have a big experience like his opponent and that will be something that will prove that Colorado are not ready for this leap, at least not this year. Their only advantage that I see in this game is that they are hitting well against lefties and this will be something to bother Jon Lester.
Apart from that, I cannot see the Rockies coming to the ‘windy city’ and taking the win over a pitcher who has the reputation to up his game once the postseason comes. The Cubs are also a different team at home with a record of 47 wins and 34 losses.
