The Kansas City Chiefs start a new season full of high hopes of getting to the Super bowl. Patrick Mahomes is definitely the starter under centre, but three other QBs will compete for a backup spot this preseason – Shane Buechele, Dustin Crum, and Chad Henne. Buechele and Crum have zero NFL experience and will be interesting to see them perform. The Chiefs do not have high expectations about them but would like to see at least one of them succeed as a backup to Mahomes in the upcoming years. Chad Henne is the with experience, having played a lot of football in the NFL, but we should expect to see the two newbies more often under centre this preseason.
The Bears turned a new page with QB Justin Fields. He will definitely be the starter for Chicago, but Nathan Peterman and Trevor Siemian will fight for the backup role. Peterman has been around the league for a few years now, even though he has not been very productive. Siemian, on the other side, was even considered as the future franchise QB of the Denver Broncos at one point in his career. In the last few years, he has been a backup QB for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.
The Chiefs’ Chad Henne should not play much since the coaching staff would like to see the less experienced players in a competitive environment. They’ll make mistakes, and the Bears will feed off them.
