Betting Prediction:
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons won their first game against Utah State 38-35. The offense showed up and they will certainly rely on it in the ongoing season, however, they have just 5 players returning on defense from last year. The defense will be a work in progress and I even expect them to perform even worse than the 33.3 points per game allowed in 2018.
The Rice Owls went just 2-11 in 2018 and 1-11 in 2017. This season also did not start well at all as they lost to the Army Black Knights by a score of 7-14. The team gave up 35 points per game in the past two seasons and it is very exciting to see them holding off a decent Army offense to just 14 points. The bad news is that Wake Forest comes to town- a team that scored 56 points on the Owls last season.
Rice had a good outing against Army but Wake Forest has a much better offense. I expect the Demon Deacons to cover the spread very easily because the Rice offense won’t give them much trouble.
