Wake Forest is 3-0 and averaging nearly 40 points per game. The offense is shining both on the ground and through the air. The defense is also very solid, allowing just 13.3 points per game. The Demon Deacons are led by Sophomore QB Sam Hartman who is completing 68.7% of his passes for 691 yards, 6 TDs, and 1 INT. RB Christian Bell-Smith is helping him with 229 rushing yards and 4 TDs so far this season.
Virginia is 2-1 and their 2 wins were really impressive. They won 43-0 and 42-14 against William & Mary and Illinois respectively. Their only loss came against North Carolina who are ranked 21st in the country. And even though they lost that game, there are many positives you can take. QB Brennan Armstrong completed 39 of his 54 throws for 554 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT. Virginia was leading at half-time and if it wasn’t for the awful third quarter, they might have even won that game.
Virginia’s offense is really something to watch. As good as Wake Forest’s defense is, I do not think they can contain Virginia or keep up with their scoring.
