The Trojan fell to a 1-1 start after their loss to the 10th ranked Stanford Cardinal, 17-3. USC were great defensively, holding Stanford to just 17 points, however, they did not have any answers offensively. It was a tough night for JT Daniels who also has 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions in the first two weeks, competing just 53% of his passes. The rushing trio will be vital on Saturday and I believe that Aca’Cedric Ware (14.0 att/g; 79.5 yds/g; TD), Stephen Carr (9.5 att/g; 53.0 yds/g), and Vavae Malepeai (5.5 att/g; 32.5 yds/g; 2 TD) will be up for the challenge.
The Texas Longhorns rebounded after their loss to Maryland in week 1. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane were beaten by 28-21 where the main guy Sam Ehlinger completed 21 of 27 passes for 237 yards and 2 TD’s while also adding 51 rushing yards and a TD on 12 carries. Offensively, after their two games against Maryland and Tulsa, the Longhorns are averaging 28.5 ppg on 441.5 total yards per game.
Both teams started the campaign slowly but USC really have some pieces on defense. However, I do not see them taking care of business against a solid QB like Sam Ehlinger. I also believe that the Longhorns’ defense will be ready for a challenge like this against a shaky offense.
