UMKC entered the Christmas break with a win over the visiting Elon, 95-59. The Kangaroos were 5-point favorites but they took control early in the game and were 25 points ahead at halftime. They shot impressively well from beyond the arc, converting 16 of their 26 attempts. Brandon McKissic finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds while the leading scorer Jamel Allen finished with a team-high of 18 points.
The Creighton Bluejays improved to 8-4 after a 110-60 victory over Coe. Creighton led by 29 points at halftime and they got the job done early while also extending their lead in the second half. Marcus Zegarowski finished with 20 points while Martin Krampelj added 18 on his own. Even the bench players scored in double digits and if the support from the continues in this one UMKC will be in for a long night.
I believe that the UMKC’s shooting we saw before Christmas was not something that we will get used to seeing. They played a much weaker side that doesn’t know how to defend the three and it is only natural for the Kangaroos to fall off a bit in this one.
