Preview:
After receiving the number 1 seed, Gonzaga reached its first Final Four in their history. Although this is an elite program, the Zags haven’t been very successful in the postseason so far. The Bulldogs are one of the best rebounding teams in the country but they have to improve their performance because we saw Xavier grab 13 offensive rebounds. The Zags’ road to the Final Four wasn’t easy but they showed great play in the previous two round against elite opponents.
South Carolina were the 7th seed and they upset Duke, Baylor and Florida consecutively by putting over 70 points in each of the games while conceding over 70 points only against Duke. South Carolina’s defense has been praised all season and it was the one that took the three-point shot away from the Gators, forcing them to shoot only 7 out of 26.
Betting Prediction:
Both teams are great when it comes to defending the basket. I expect this to be a tactical battle between two very well coached teams. The Gamecocks won’t have the same success on the offensive glass as they had against Florida and Duke. That’s why I think Gonzaga will take care of business early on and will keep their lead to the end of the game, covering the points spread.
