Everybody is talking about the impressive run the Packers made in order to go get to the NFC Championship game, but Pittsburgh has won 9 straight since week 10. Le’Veon Bell is operating on a different level than everyone else in the league, being the most influential running back in the league. He will have to be at his best in order to help Big Ben against this elite defense. The Steelers’ defense turned the season around and since it allowed 35 points to the Cowboys, it allowed over 20 points just once and it was against Joe Flacco who was still trying to get into the postseason.
The Patriots are allowing just 15 points per game and they are considered as a 5-point favorite in this game. Tom Brady has been playing very well all year, although he doesn’t have Gronkowski in this game and Edelman has been very inconsistent in terms of scoring touchdowns. Blount is a constant on offense and he is expected to be involved much on Sunday. The defense has some playmakers which turns out just to be enough in order for them to win football games.
4 of the Patriots’ receivers are questionable for this game and Brady may find himself in trouble, looking for open men. The only times the Patriots lost this season were against a hot Tyrod Taylor and an elite Russell Wilson who went for 348 yards at ‘Foxborough’. Earlier this season, Antonio Brown had 106 receiving yards against the Patriots’ defense, although the quarterback for the Steelers was Landry Jones. I expect Ben Roethlisberger to have a big game and the Steelers’ defense doing just enough to keep Brady frustrated at the end.
