The Orlando Apollos and the San Antonio Commanders allowed just 2 field goals in the season opener and now will be going head to head. Both teams impressed in week 1 offensively. Orlando QB Garrett Gilbert completing 15 of 25 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Akeem Hunt also played a big part in the success, rushing for 73 yards on just 10 attempts. Terence Gavin commanded the defense very well, making two interceptions, one of which returned for a touchdown.
San Antonio’s defense, however, was even more respectable. They put constant pressure on the quarterback who was sacked six times. QB Logan Woodside had two interceptions but he also recorded 255 passing yards. Mekale McKay had a big game, catching the football 5 times for a team-high of 80 yards.
The Orlando Apollos had the better offense and the defense is very good. I believe, however, that the Commanders will have a great game under their own turf and perform better offensively than last week. A 6-point line is too big for the Apollos to cover and I even expect the Commanders to upset them.
