The Atlanta Legends and the San Diego Fleet are both 0-1 on the year. The Legends couldn’t even score a touchdown in the season opener. They played against one of the best defenses in the league, however, they started the game very well, getting a 3-0 lead after a 67-yard drive. On their next possessions, they got just 99 yards. Matt Sims also started the game well but then fall off a bit like the rest of the team.
San Diego also didn’t score a single touchdown in the season opener. QB Mike Bercovici was sacked 6 times and intercepted twice and that is why he got benched for Philip Nelson. He didn’t play much better but at least he threw the ball more safely. Nelson is confirmed to start this game and the Fleet will expect him to turn things around.
The Legends could’ve scored more in the first game if it wasn’t for the great Apollo’s defense. A 9-point line is too big for the Fleet to cover. The Legends showed some good things offensively, however, I believe that the Apollo are better than everyone else in this league and that is why they were so dominant in the first game.
