Like many of the favorites, Gonzaga didn’t play well enough in the first half to hold a big lead but they woke up in the second and won the game against the Jackrabbits by 66-46. South Dakota State were kept to just 31% shooting from the field but the offense didn’t put the performance we used to see because this is a team which averaged 84 points per game in the regular season.
Northwestern won for the first time in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday when they defeated Vanderbilt by 68-66. Bryant McIntosh is their key player who scored 25 points for the Wildcats and it will be interesting to see him against a much better defense like Gonzaga’s. Derek Pardon grabbed 11 rebounds and Northwestern will expect him to have a similar performance from him in order to give them a chance of pulling the upset.
