North Texas is aiming for a first bowl win since 2013. They have won three of their final four games of the season and they are carrying tons of confidence into this one. QB Mason Fine had an extraordinary season with 3734 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. The running game only averaged 151 yards per game but that wasn’t an issue because the passing game was always there to produce. Offensively, North Texas is averaging 36.4 points per game while averaging 21.8 points.
Utah State will enter this game without their head coach who will be joining Texas Tech. The Aggies had a good year which included a 10-game winning streak. QB Jordan Love also had a big season, throwing for 3208 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. They also have a fantastic running back duo, consisting of Darwin Thompson and Gerold Bright. The Aggies are scoring 47.2 points per game while allowing 23 points.
I know that Utah State has the better weapons on offense but its defense is clearly overrated. I believe that North Texas will be able to keep up in this shootout contest and I can’t see Utah State winning by more than 7.
