The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 6-6 and on a 2-game winning streak. This winning streak put them in the playoffs. The team had a very tough schedule with games against Alabama, LSU, and Auburn- all of them which are in the top 10 college rankings. QB Garrett Shrader is completing 57.5% of his throws for 1170 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions while the other QB Tommy Stevens has similar numbers. With just 1 game ahead, the team still has not solved its quarterback issues but it is expected Stevens to start.
The Louisville Cardinals are 7-5 due to their great offense. They managed to score 62 against Wake Forest, 17 against Notre Dame and 27 against Miami. QB Micale Cunningham is completing 61.5% of his throws for 1786 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. RB Javian Hawkins is a monster in the backfield as he rushed for 1420 yards and 8 touchdowns this season.
Both teams struggled defensively during the regular season, so I expect this to be a high-scoring game. After watching Kentucky run all over Louisville, I expect Mississippi State to use the same game plan against the Cardinals. The Cardinals have a good running game but Mississippi State is allowing just 148.6 yards on the ground per game.
