In the first day of Premier League on Saturday Middlesbrough hosts Stoke City.

Middlesbrough finished on the second place in the Championship last season and promoted directly in the Premier League. They also reached 1/4-finals in the League Cup and their season was great. Middlesbrough played strong in his summer preparation, losing only one friendly match (against Betis), and ending with a win against Aston Villa (3-1) and two promising zero obtained against Udinese and Real Sociedad (0-0 each).

Still coached by former Basque defender Aitor Karanka, Boro is strengthened by signing the excellent goalkeeper Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan, the Valencians Negredo and Barragan, the Uruguayan international Gaston Ramirez, the Colombian defender Espinosa and Danish striker of Ajax Viktor Fischer.

9th in Premier League in the 2015-2016 season and losing in semi-finals of the League Cup, Stoke hope to finally pass a level in the league this season. The Potters have not lost their traditional irregularity during the offseason since they signed a victory against Orlando, a draw against Preston and two losses to Burton and Hamburg.
