Both teams are spectacular on offense but questions are being asked about their defensive abilities. Western Kentucky finished the season at 10-3, leading the country with 48.8 points scored per game. Mike White went for 4000 passing yards with 34 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions while Taywan Taylor, his best receiver, has nearly 1600 receiving yards which is the second best in the nation.
Memphis is averaging nearly 40 points per game while quarterback Riley Ferguson has had over 3000 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. They are ranked 97th in total defense out of all 128 teams. I don’t think their secondary can keep White and Taylor quiet at all. They will go for big gains on each down and Western Kentucky will score at least 40.
Western Kentucky is ranked 42nd in total defense and I think this will be the reason they will win this game. They have some players able to make plays on defense which will be enough to cover the point spread.
