Game: Manchester United – Cardiff City
Date: 28 January, Tuesday 2014 year
Start time: 19:45 GMT
On Tuesday evening Manchester United will try to be on their best performance and save some face against the last team in the Premier League Cardiff City.
The Red Devils are having a nightmare 2014 so far, with only one championship win and disappointing defeats in all tournaments. The New Year is far from happy for David Moyes. The new manager of Manchester United might have expected some problems being in charge of the most successful English team in recent year, but the reality definitely exceeded by much his biggest fears.
United lost 2 of their last 3 Premier league games and their only victory this year is against Swansea. However, just a week earlier The Swans kicked the Red Devils out of FA Cup competition after a 2-1 win.
The horrible performance from United went on for the Capital One Cup earlier this week and Sunderland eliminated the Devils in heart-breaking second leg after extra-time and penalty shoot-out.
Cardiff has just returned to the Premier League after decades in the lower divisions. The team is last in the championship but point margin between them and other relegation-battlers is minimal, so every point is of immense important for the Bluebirds.
Cardiff City recorded three straight defeats in the Premier League against Arsenal, West Ham and Man City and grabbed a satisfactory FA Cup win versus Newcastle United inbetween those games.
In attempt to strengthen their squad for the last stages of the championship Cardiff is completing two transfers from Manchester United this week. 21-year-old winger Zaha will go on loan until the end of the season and Brazilian full-back Fabio will be sold to the Bluebirds.
It is curious to mention that if the transfer is completed in the next few days Fabio has every chance of facing his twin brother Rafael on the pitch next week.
As Manchester United has their back to the wall, we expect the red devils will smash their opponent and record a convincing home victory, so a handicap victory for the red Devils seem as a very good option here.
