Usually, in preseason games, we usually see a lot of action from backup players, especially backup quarterbacks. In Jacksonville, we will probably see C.J. Beathard and Kyle Sloter play. C.J. Beathard has NFL experience that should allow him to perform well while Kyle Sloter has a lot of snaps in preseason games. Sloter has been around the league for 5 years now and has been in different locker rooms. He has 168 completions out of 291 passing attempts in the NFL.
As for the Las Vegas Raiders, I expect we’ll see Nick Mullens, Jarret Stidham, and Chase Garbers under center. While Nick Mullens has NFL experience, Jarrett Stidham and Chase Garbers are newbies. Usually, early in the preseason, such QBs get a lot of snaps to get into a rhythm. However, I don’t believe Stidham and Garbers are ready for NFL games.
Based on the above, I’m siding with Jacksonville. The Jaguars players will also benefit from not playing under Urban Meyer and will want to prove themselves under Doug Pederson.
