The Houston Baptist have a high-powered offense that can cause a lot of trouble. Their key players return for another year with the team. QB Bailey Zappe was fantastic last season, throwing for 3811 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Receivers Ben Ratzlaff and Jerreth Sterns are back and this is great news for the Huskies as these two players combined for 21 touchdowns last year. Houston Baptist will only play 3 games this year and this is a perfect chance for them to show off their skills.
North Texas did not have a great 2019 season. They averaged 30.6 points per game but the defense was not something that they can be proud with as it allowed 32.5 points per game. I expect similar stats from them and definitely a lot of points that they will give up to the Huskies on Saturday. They recruited some decent players who decided to turn down offers from bigger schools, in order to play consistently for the Mean Green.
With the above being said, I expect North Texas to get the W but the Huskies should give them a game. Even though Houston Baptist will lose the game, they will surely score some points and keep it close for the most part.
