The New York Giants surprised a lot of experts when they beat the Vikings away last week. The game unexpectedly became a shootout with both teams scoring at least 3 TDs each. QB Daniel Jones played solidly and finished the game with 301 passing yards and 2 TDs. The same can be said about his opposition, though. QB Kirk Cousins couldn’t complete just 8 throws, even though the Giants’ defense allowed only short throws.
The Philadelphia Eagles did not participate in the first round as they finished first in the NFC. Philadelphia had a fantastic season, but there are questions about their abilities as they lost 2 of their last 3 games. Their losses came against Dallas and New Orleans and both games were completely different. The Eagles lost in a shootout against Dallas and in a low-scoring game against New Orleans. As a whole, the team is 3rd in points scored and 8th in the fewest points allowed.
The Giants had trouble against the Vikings’ offense, and I would make a case for Philadelphia’s offense being better. Daniel Jones will also play against a better defense this time around, and I just don’t think he has what it takes to get to a conference final. The Eagles also swept the Giants in the regular season and never gave them a chance in those games.
