Eastern Kentucky can be proud of their 2019 season. They gave a lot of fight to all of the teams they played against and their competitiveness was what impressed a lot of people. The defense won them a lot of games last year and the new coaching staff will try to continue this trend in 2020. Most of the key defensive players are returning while for the offense, I expect them to continue to run the ball and this is what their schemes will be oriented around.
Marshall, on the other side, started 2019 very slowly. They lost 3 of their first 5 games but then, turned things around. The team did not play very well against elite or similar opponents and was only able to beat smaller schools. Their schedule is very difficult this season and I doubt that they will be able to come away with a lot of wins. Marshall has a very good and experienced offensive line and I expect it to play very well against any side.
The spread is just too big. Marshall is definitely a team that has the potential to outscore opponents like Eastern Kentucky but I see the Colonels giving them some fight and I do not believe they will lose by 20 or more points.
