This year, it might be different for Clemson. It seems that they are playing with a ton of confidence and they are just coming off an easy semi-final 30-3 win over Notre Dame. They do not have any problems on defense and they have shut out opponents many times this season. The defense is second in points allowed with just 12.9 per game while allowing just 280 total yards per game.
Alabama, on the other side, has trouble defending against the pass when they are facing reputable squads and they almost lost to Georgia a month ago when they were down by 14 in the 3rd quarter. Eventually, they scored 21 unanswered points and won the game but this left a bad taste in many people’s mouths. They allowed 34 points against Oklahoma and if it wasn’t for the bad Oklahoma defense, they could’ve been in the finals instead of the Crimson Tide.
Alabama has some holes in the secondary that Clemson can exploit and if the Tigers get off to a hot start, it will be really difficult for the Crimson Tide to overcome this. They will face a motivated and organized side that knows how to get the most out of every situation. Even if they do win, it won’t be by more than 6 points.
