Betting Prediction:
Miami Ohio has the best defensive unit in the conference, allowing just 5.15 yards per play. Their rush defense is one of the best in college football and it will be interesting how it will perform against Gilbert. Gus Ragland is finally back, throwing 12 consecutive touchdown passes and running for two more without committing an interception. He isn’t flashy but he doesn’t have to as long as his defense is keeping the other teams quiet.
Ball State is a one-dimensional team on offense. They like to run the ball through Gilbert and they do it effectively. Riley Neal threw for 2 touchdowns and rushed for 85 yards in their last week’s loss to Toledo, 37-19.
If Gilbert goes off, this will be an easy Cardinals’ victory but I don’t see this happening. I think both teams will be ineffective on offense and this will turn into a defensive tactical play.
