The Austin Peay Governors had a fine outing against Furman last week at home. They managed to beat the 8-5 team 42-6 and QB JaVaughn Craig had another monstrous game with his 78% completed passes, 264 passing yards, and 3 touchdowns. RB Kentel Williams was not needed much because the passing game was perfect but he also added 57 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
The Sacramento State Hornets are 9-3 and 1st in the Big Sky. They are on a 3-game winning streak and last time out they beat the 5-7 UC Davis. The game was tougher than expected for them as they were trailing 17-10 at halftime but then managed to score 14 points in the 4th quarter and win it. QB Kevin Thomson played exceptionally well and he finished with 300 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and an interception while he was also the leading rusher with 116 yards as well.
Sacramento State relies on its QB pretty much to do all the work. The Governors have the more balanced squad, even though it is worse talent-wise. I still expect Sacramento State to win but I can’t see them, covering the spread, mainly because Austin Peay has only 1 thing to do and that stops the QB.
