Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers are at the bottom of the NFC West Division. We assumed that was going to be the case for the 49ers but we certainly didn’t expect it to be so for the Cardinals who were one of the favorites to go to the Super Bowl this season. I still believe the Cardinals could get to the playoffs but this is a must-win game against one of their fierce rivals. Carson Palmer may be out on Thursday and this will turn Drew Stanton into a starting quarterback. He wasn’t able to find his targets during the preseason and he could be ripped by the 49ers. This means they will have to pound the ball to David Johnson to pick up yards on the ground. The 49ers will look to force turnovers early and to score against Arizona in order to be able to be competitive against a more talented squad. Tyrann Mathieu will be needed on defense and he will provide them with his experience.

Even with Carson Palmer, the Cardinals were inconsistent this season and I can’t see them score more than 20 this game. San Francisco should be competitive against a divisional rival under their home turf. I think this game may turn ugly and both teams will struggle to score.
