The Akron Zips are the underdogs here for a reason. They have already lost their two games this season against Western Michigan and Ohio. They are the 6th worst team in the country in points allowed with 41 per game while the offense is also one of the worst in the country, averaging just 11.5 points. They do not have any sort of passing game and are only relying on the run. RB Teon Dollard has rushed for 232 yards on 38 carries.
Kent State is on the opposite side- they are 2-0 and looking confident after beating Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green. It is fair to say that they haven’t played any elite opponents so far this season but Akron is not such as well. Kent State has a stable offense that can hurt you both through the air and on the ground. They are averaging 295.5 passing yards per game while on the ground they are adding 253.5 points.
Akron just can’t score. With 11.5 points per game, I really can’t see them being competitive in this one, having in mind that Kent State will get off to an early lead and never look back.
