Gonzaga didn’t have any problems defeating South Dakota State and Northwestern but they had to be at their best against West Virginia. They won by 3 points due to their outstanding performance on defense. They held the Mountaineers to converting only 5 of their 23 shots from the three-point line. The Zags scored 40% of their attempts from behind the arc and this was another reason why they won. Gonzaga’s problems came on the rebounding side of the game where they allowed 20 offensive rebounds.
Xavier know the recipe for success against Gonzaga. They have to improve their rebounding because they were outrebounded by Arizona but they have a fantastic chance of grabbing more boards than the Zags. Trevon Bluiett needs to be as efficient as he was in the previous round when he scored 25 points, including 3 three-pointers.
