Villanova kept most of their championship players, losing only Daniel Ochefu and Ryan Arcidiacono. Jalen Brunson, who is one of the top prospects in the nation, scored 17 points and got seven rebounds in their first win of the season. The Wildcats performed at a high level and I expect to see them go deep in the March Madness again.
Purdue defeated the McNeese Cowboys on Friday, 109-65. Caleb Swanigan finished with 23 points, 20 rebounds, and 6 assists. Some of the other guys on the team also came up with big numbers in the rebounds section. That’s why I think it will be tough for Villanova to score on second chance opportunities while Purdue will be able to make more shot attempts.
