Texas started the season disastrously bad. They couldn’t beat Maryland, even though they were made the favorites for a reason. Then, managed to win 6 consecutive games before losing to West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Both games were very narrow and they feel they should’ve won those matches. The Longhorns managed to upset Oklahoma, 48-45 on 06.10 but in the rematch a month ago, they lost 39-27 to a much more organized Oklahoma team.
Georgia almost beat Alabama a few weeks ago in the SEC game. They led 28-14 late in the game but were outscored 21-0 in the latter stages and eventually lost. The loss against LSU kept them out of the playoffs but it was impressive that they managed to put up 454 yards against the nation’s top defense. On the season, Georgia is limiting their opponents to just 311.2 yards per game overall and on offense, they are relying on the running game.
Texas defended well against the run this year and if that continues, the win won’t come easy. Texas’ QB Ehlinger is an experienced quarterback, who should not be intimidated by Georgia’s defense. I expect Texas to cover the points in this one as they will be facing a heartbroken Georgia team that still dwells on the last game.
