The Tampa Bay Lightning are the favorites to win the NHL Stanley Cup, according to Stanley Cup odds Las Vegas. Their season ended embarrassingly bad last year as they were thrown out of the NHL playoffs by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The team played very well until the end of the regular season and they were deservedly the team with most wins- 62.
The Vegas Golden Knights managed to get to the Stanley Cup in 2018 but they were abysmal in the following campaign. The Golden Knights were eliminated in the first round but there was controversial refereeing in all of those games. Vegas looks like the team with a chip on its shoulder and I expect them to bounce back better than ever and make a deeper run into the postseason.
The Toronto Maple Leafs started last season very well and they almost convinced us that they are a Stanley Cup contender but at the end, they finished with a 46-28-8 record which was good for the 5th place in the Eastern Conference. They also gave a good fight to the Boston Bruins, forcing a game 7 which they lost but showed us that they can be considered a contender for the new season and are among favorites at Stanley Cup odds Vegas.
The Boston Bruins are once again one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup trophy when we look at Stanley Cup odds today. They made their third Stanley Cup finals appearance in the last 9 years. They lost the Finals to the St. Louis Blues in 7 games, although the Bruins have been more consistent throughout the year. Brad Marchand will continue to dominate the Conference with his goalscoring ability as he finished last season with 36 goals and 100 points.
As a dark horse, you can also consider the defending champions St. Louis Blues to have another surprising campaign. They were dark horses last year and by January, they had one of the worst records in the entire NHL. Even though I doubt that they will repeat the same performance, it is a good pick to consider based on Stanley Cup current odds.
The New York Rangers drafted the top prospect Kaapo Kakko with the second overall pick and they also acquired Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets. Jimmy Vesey and Jesper Fast continues to be part of the team and I expect them to contribute big time. I believe that the Rangers are a few years away from glory but they will show teeth this year. At least.
The New Jersey Devils’ chances of winning the Stanley Cup are more or less the same as the Rangers’ as wee sees at Stanley Cup odds of the beginning of the season. Their leading scorer Taylor Hall missed the latter stages of last season and the Devils were abysmal without him. With Hall in the lineup, they will certainly be a better team. Their case is similar to the Rangers’ one. They are few players away from being a contender.
Prediction: With all that being said, I expect the Toronto Maple Leafs to finally get over the hump and make a deeper run into the postseason, potentially coming away with the Stanley Cup Trophy. They have everything set in place to get the job done and if they stay healthy, the will be the new champs.
