Betting Prediction:
The Pelicans are coming off one of their best seasons in franchise history since Chris Paul left for the Clippers. They made the playoffs and they will be looking to repeat that this year as well. They lost DeMarcus Cousins to injury and then to Golden State but the addition of Julius Randle could be a real improvement on the PF position and I think that he can complement Anthony Davis. The Pelicans look like a top-6 team in the West this season but it is early in the season and they lost all 3 of their last season openers.
The Rockets will be looking, on the other side, to get to the Conference Finals again and win them this year. They added Carmelo Anthony in the mix and if he is okay to be a role player, I think that Houston can benefit from it. The Rockets showed last year that they have one of the best offenses in the league and Clint Capela’s improvement at the Center position was so big that they also added defensive abilities as well.
I do not think that Capela will prevent Davis from scoring but he will be a nightmare matchup and he will certainly do some damage. Harden and co. should be able to cover the spread if Capela and the role players can give them some defensive cushion.
