Match: Manchester United – Liverpool
Date: Saturday, 12th September 2015
Start time: 5:30 pm
There is no big game in English football than between the two most successful clubs in the country – Manchester United and Liverpool. On Saturday evening at “Old Trafford” the two teams face each other in a match of the 5th round of the “Premiership”.
Manchester United made a surprise defeat in the third round, having slid 1:2 away to Swansea. The defeat was the first for the team of Louis van Gaal this season. So “Reds” pulled down 5 th position with a total of 7 points.
United must improve its performance as host if he wants to fight for the title. In their last four games at home in the Premier League, “Red Devils” have one win, two draws and one loss.
Once the transfer window closed, and David de Gea certainly remain the team, Van Gaal is likely to again take a vote of confidence. The media in Britain expected soon Spanish guard to return in under the door, replacing Sergio Romero, who made a convincing game against Swansea.
Dutch specialist will not be able to rely on Michael Carrick and Phil Jones in the upcoming match.
Once was not conceding a goal in the first three rounds of the season, Liverpool virtually collapsed against West Ham in their last match and lost 0:3 to “Anfield”. So “Reds” also stayed with 7 points and occupy 7th place in the standings.
In the last game Philippe Coutinho received a red card and will not be available to Brendan Rodgers for the visit of “Old Trafford”. Another bad news for Liverpool manager is the state of Christian Benteke. He received a minor injury during the match of his national team against Cyprus.
Meanwhile, striker Daniel Sturridge already practicing a par with their teammates. Sturridge missed the entire summer preparing his team as recuperating in the US after hip surgery. It is likely that Brendan Rodgers Sturridge included in the group for the upcoming clash with United.
Last season Manchester United recorded double against Liverpool. On “Old Trafford” “Reds” were uncompromising, defeating 3:0. In their last eight home games against Liverpool 20 times English champions have seven success.
After a poor game that both teams showed in the last round, I expect to be self-motivated to win. I think it is time Wayne Rooney to play around at full speed in combination with the best form of Memphis Depay and Juan Mata ‘Reds’ to reach success. On the other hand guests will be without key players up front this season Feiipe Coutinho, which will almost certainly affect their performance.
