In a game from NFL Week 1, we will see Houston Texans at New England Patriots.
The New England Patriots start the season at home against the resurging Houston Texans. The Texans had a campaign to forget last year when they had many injury problems. Houston nearly upset the Patriots last year when Deshaun Watson’s heroics were almost good enough for a win but then they lost to the never aging Tom Brady.
Being favored at home is nothing new for the Patriots. They’ve been the favorite in every game at Gillette Stadium since 2014 when they hosted the Broncos in Week 9. The Patriots have gone 14-6 ATS when favored at home.
Houston’s defense was ranked 24th in passing yards allowed per game last year with 237.4 and they also allowed the most points per game- 27.3. With that being said, even though JJ Watt is back, I can’t see the Patriots scoring less than 25 points on Sunday. To me, this one is shaping up to have 60 or more points scored.
Deshaun Watson tends to put up big numbers against leaky defenses and we all know that the Patriots’ defense only gets better when the season progresses. We also need to remember that the Texans lost by just 3 points at Foxborough last year. Except for Brady and Gronk, the Texans have the better offensive players and I believe they can cover the spread.
