Gonzaga had a 14-point second half lead over South Carolina in the previous round which they blew and had to make another late run in order to secure the victory. Zach Collins finally finished with a double-double- 14 points and 13 rebounds. Nigel Williams-Goss was the MVP of the game with his 23 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. It will be crucial for Karnowski and Collins to not make stupid fouls because they will be needed late in the game.
North Carolina had to be at their best against Oregon as they won by 77-76 on Saturday. Kennedy Meeks finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds while Justin Jackson helped him with 22 points. Berry didn’t put the sort of performance he is capable of, converting just 2 out of his 14 field goal attempts. He will have to show up on the greatest stage of college basketball if his team is about to win.
Betting Prediction:
UNC’s big men are capable of beating anybody down the block just to get the rebound. That’s why I think they will be too much for Karnowski and Collins and they will limit Gonzaga’s second chance opportunities to the minimum. Last year’s loss to Villanova is still hurting and that’s why the Tar Heels will get their redemption against a side that will make its debut on this stage.
