Florida is 8-3 and had a successful campaign. Their only losses came against Texas A&M and Alabama and they could’ve even got into the playoffs if it was not for their surprising outing against LSU a couple of weeks ago. QB Kyle Trask has been outstanding, completing nearly 70% of his throws for 4125 yards, 43 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. The defense, however, is average and it is keeping the opponents to 28.6 points per game.
Oklahoma could’ve also been considered as a legitimate playoff contender if they haven’t started the season 1-2 with losses against Kansas and Iowa State. Since then, however, the team has been doing a tremendous job, averaging 41.8 points per game on offense, along with a great passing game. QB Spencer Rattler is completing 68% of his throws for 2784 yards, 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The defense is doing a much better job than Florida’s as it is allowing just 21.9 points per game.
Oklahoma’s defense will be the tiebreaker here. Either it will show up against a very capable offensive side or it will shrink and be unprepared. I tend to think that the former will happen as the Sooners have a lot of elite players and should be able to contain Oklahoma to some degree, allowing them to cover the spread.
